Our Plants and Gardens: Resources for wellness and healing

Workshop

 During this three day workshop/retreat we will explore;

  • The healing qualities of plant life, for our physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing.
  • Characteristics of plants and the importance of trees in a garden.
  •  Principles of Garden Design. Letting nature have its way and having your input.
  • How connecting with the soil is a resource for creating a deeper connection with our core selves and a potential for healing.
  • Imagery exercises using the basics of gardening as metaphors for self-care, nurture, growth and spiritual connection.

This is a retreat with a blend of theory, mindful reflection, rest and experiential work.

Bring a rainproof coat, a pair of boots. Open to all.

 

Rachel Doyle, is founder of Arboretum Garden Centre in Leighlinbridge, a graduate of horticulture, and a former member of the main & horticultural boards of Bord Bia.  She is former President of the International Garden Centre Association (IGCA). From the modest back garden beginnings 40 years ago Rachel has developed a unique horticultural experience at Arboretum from her pure passion and devotion to what she loves.

Michael Dillon, is the Director at Ballyvaloo, he is a psychotherapist by training with specialist training in Trauma work and is a certified Sensorimotor Psychotherapist. In the past he has worked with the MEND programme (Domestic Violence Intervention Programme in the South East) for over 10 years, as a therapist with the HSE in Counselling in Primary Care (CIPC) ,the Self Harm Intervention Programme (SHIP) and more recently as manager of The Ford Counselling Centre.  Spirituality has always been core to his life.
